Social Brew Cafe | Pyrmont

When we think of Pyrmont, the first thoughts to pop to mind are Darling Harbour, The Star and the Fish Markets but now, the Social Brew Cafe comes to mind. Located on Harris Street next to a small park, it's an ideal place to catch up with friends over brunch, or stop by for a coffee while walking the dog. Any excuse really to visit the cute and quiet little cafe. After both reading through the menu and scrolling through their Instagram feed, we came to the conclusion to order the double double, the brew deli plate and a side of parmesan truffle fries for the nice touch.

Double Double
Your classic ham and cheese on toast is known as the Double Double at Social Brew Cafe. Why you ask? Because it is filled with double smoked black forest ham with double cheese melt of vintage cheddar & emmental, real ale and honey mustard on toasted beer & barley sourdough. It was delicious and satisfied our ham and cheese craving. Be sure to dig in fast while the cheese is nice and warm, otherwise you will be left with hardened cheese! We absolutely are loving the colours on the plate, the simple green and purple make all the difference.

The Brew Deli Plate
Before we start with the Brew Deli Plate, let's give a HUGE shout out the the genius who thought combining fries with parmesan and truffle oil would be a good idea. The chips were crunchy and were loaded with flavour from the truffle oil! They were an addiction, even though we were full - we fought over the last bite, absolutely loved it! Okay, now back to the Brew Deli Plate. The star of the dish was obviously the Burrata cheese - it was so creamy.... let it not distract you from the beautiful mushrooms served a la grecque ("in Green style") and the zaatar boiled egg. Mixing all of these components together on the warm rosemary sourdough toast is pure heaven, especially during the cold winter mornings. Just a side note - what we enjoyed most about this dish was actually the cherry tomatoes as weird as it may sound. They popped in your mouth and were extremely sweet - good to cleanse the palette after every 2nd or 3rd bite.
